Planning a water heater replacement

Model details and access information help turn an assessment into a useful proposal.

A replacement starts with the existing installation and the way the household uses hot water. The largest available tank is not automatically the right choice.

Equipment details

Include the model, approximate age and the reason for replacement. Tell the office whether the current heater is electric or fuel-fired. Record those details from visible labels without opening equipment.

Household use

Describe the number of people and whether hot-water demand overlaps. The assessment can then consider capacity alongside available space and supply connections.

Scheduling

Ask how long the water will be off, what access is needed and how the old unit will leave the building. A written plan should name disposal, startup checks and any separate trade work.
